How do we communicate with our space probes that we send millions of miles away?
Do they have some type of technology that only they know about or do they just use UHF or something else?
They use microwave radio communications in the GHz range. Like light waves, radio wave electromagnetic radiation travels at the speed of light (3.0 x 10^8 m/sec.). Two way communications between earth and mars might take as much as 20 minutes. The phenomenon possesses real problems for deep space exploration and may be insurmountable since no form of communications can travel faster than the speed of light.

Radio.
Ham radio people listened in to some of the later Apollo missions, and have received signals from other probes.

They use radio (microwave).

Radio waves that are received from the probes are decoded into information by various techniques like photonics, matronics……………

Yep, just radio. They use huge satellite dishes to get as much directionality and gain as possible. The signals are extremely weak, obviously.

Radio waves take a long time to reach satellites that are in the outer solar system. Scientists are currently working to send information via lasers to the extra-stellar hubs.

Look there is nothing out there. We have a whole space station set up to check the outer limits in Feb 2010. I feel that this is what is destroying the Ozone layer in the name of just got to know what is out there. If there is something in the outer limit thank God it is smart enough to duck and hide when they see the folks coming. Imagine going out there to spread what we deal with here on earth with others. You do not change your strips that easy. Some folks are like a disease.
